Sound familiar?

Most phone-system headaches aren't about features. They're about who's actually got your back.

Choosing a platform, moving your numbers, and keeping calls clear shouldn't mean refereeing between a provider, a carrier, your internet company, and whoever set it up last time.

"We can't lose our main business number. What actually happens to it when we switch?"
"Last time we changed systems, the phones went down and it turned into a bad week."
"Calls break up and drop — is it the phone system, the internet, or the Wi-Fi?"
"We're paying for a system nobody understands — licensing, add-ons, renewals, all of it."
"Our auto attendant and call routing are a mess, and no one will fix them properly."
"When something breaks, we get bounced between the provider, the carrier, and IT."
Which platform is right for us?

The right platform depends on your business — not on what someone's trying to sell.

There's no single "best" business phone system. The right answer changes with how your team works. Before recommending anything, Miclyn looks at what actually matters for you.

Miclyn compares the requirements first, then recommends the platform — so the decision is built around your business, not a sales quota.

Where Miclyn fits

We're the advisor and the migration partner. The platform runs the underlying service.

Being clear about this matters. Miclyn doesn't operate the phone network — the platform provider does. What Miclyn does is help you choose the right one, move to it cleanly, and stay in your corner afterward. You get an advocate who can evaluate multiple platforms instead of forcing every business into the same one.

The platform / provider

Operates the underlying calling service and network, delivers the platform's features, and sets its own pricing and policies. Miclyn helps you choose it, migrate to it, and manage the relationship — we don't control the provider's network or guarantee its resolution times.

How we work

A clear path from "we need to fix our phones" to "it just works."

No mystery, no hand-off-and-disappear. Five steps, and Miclyn stays with you through all of them.

The comparison happens before any recommendation, and the migration is planned and tested before your numbers move. That order is the whole point.

Platforms we work across

Platforms chosen around your business.

Miclyn evaluates and works across the major business phone platforms, and matches the platform to the customer.

Zoom Phone RingCentral Nextiva 8x8 Microsoft Teams Phone Vonage …and other appropriate platforms

Zoom is one of Miclyn's strongest platform relationships, and we often recommend it — but only when it's the right fit for the business in front of us. The comparison always comes first.

Migration & number porting

"What happens to our numbers?" — the question behind every phone-system change.

Losing a business number is the fear that keeps companies stuck on a system they've outgrown. It's a fair fear — and it's exactly the part Miclyn takes off your plate.

Keep your numbers where possible

In most cases, existing numbers can be ported to the new platform. We confirm what can move — based on the numbers, the current provider, and the account details — before anything is scheduled.

Configure and test first

We build and test the new system — call routing, auto attendants, users, and devices — before your numbers move, so the setup is proven, not improvised on cutover day.

Plan the cutover with you

We schedule the switch around your business and coordinate the porting so the move happens on a timeline that makes sense, with clear expectations along the way.

Keep a fallback in mind

Migrations have moving parts we don't all control — like the losing provider's timing. We plan for that so a hiccup stays a hiccup instead of a crisis.

Straight talk: we can't promise exact port dates, same-day moves, that every single number can be ported, or that the phones will never blink during a transition. What we can commit to is careful coordination, testing before cutover, and a plan built around keeping you working.

Network readiness

Great calls start with a great network.

A cloud phone system is only as good as the connection underneath it. Choppy audio, dropped calls, and lag are often network problems, not platform problems — and a phone provider can't fix your network. We can.

What affects call quality

Bandwidth, latency, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi coverage, WAN reliability, and how voice traffic is prioritized (QoS) all shape whether calls sound clear and stay connected.

What Miclyn does about it

We review network readiness as part of the phone-system conversation and, where needed, address it through our Networking & Connectivity practice — before your calls depend on it.

Microsoft Teams Phone

Already living in Microsoft 365? Teams can become your phone system.

If your team already works in Microsoft 365 and Teams, you may be able to turn Teams into your business phone system rather than adding a separate platform alongside it.

There's more than one way to connect Teams to the outside world.

Teams reaches the public phone network through approaches like Microsoft Calling Plans, Operator Connect, Direct Routing, and Teams Phone Mobile — each with real trade-offs in cost, control, and complexity. You don't need to become an expert in the differences. Miclyn helps determine which architecture fits your business, and it ties into the Microsoft 365 work we already do.

Easy to overlook

The requirements most businesses don't think about — until they matter.

Modern phone systems come with responsibilities that are easy to miss. Miclyn helps you identify them during planning. We're not attorneys, and this isn't legal advice — it's making sure nothing important slips through.

E911 & emergency calling

Federal emergency-calling requirements can include direct 911 dialing, on-site notification, and accurate dispatchable-location information — the areas addressed by Kari's Law and the RAY BAUM'S Act. We help you plan for them as part of the setup.

Business texting (A2P 10DLC)

If you text customers from a U.S. business number, application-to-person messaging generally requires brand and campaign registration through the carrier ecosystem (A2P 10DLC). We help you understand what's needed so your messages actually get delivered instead of blocked.

Fax & POTS replacement

Carriers continue transitioning many legacy copper and analog services to newer technologies, and businesses may face higher costs or replacement requirements for remaining POTS-dependent applications. Faxes and some legacy services may need a modern replacement, and we help you plan the move.

Alarm, elevator & legacy lines

Analog lines behind alarms, elevators, and similar systems need special attention as legacy analog services are retired or replaced. We help identify these early so nothing safety-critical gets missed.

After go-live

One point of contact who stays with it.

The value doesn't stop at cutover. Instead of starting over with a new provider rep every time something comes up, you have a Miclyn relationship that already understands your setup.

Add a user Remove a user Change call routing Add a location Replace a phone Understand a license Review a bill Escalate a provider issue Evaluate a new capability

When you need to make a change or something isn't working, Miclyn stays involved and helps manage the provider relationship — including driving escalations on your behalf. We don't override provider policies or guarantee their resolution times, but you're not left navigating it alone.

Local roots, wider reach

Based in Albuquerque.
Cloud phone systems that can travel with you.

Miclyn is a New Mexico partner with local people and local relationships. Because a cloud phone system runs over the internet, we can also support selected businesses and locations beyond New Mexico.

Here in New Mexico

Local accountability

Real people in Albuquerque who understand your business, your network, and your locations — not a call center three time zones away.

Beyond New Mexico

Cloud platform capability

For multi-site businesses and remote teams, a cloud phone system can tie locations together wherever they are. We take on reach we can genuinely stand behind, and we'll be straight with you about what we can and can't support.

Who this is for

Businesses at a phone-system crossroads.

Replacing an aging system

Your current phone system or PBX is showing its age, and it's time for something that fits how you work now.

Leaving a provider that let you down

Great until you needed help. You want an advisor who stays involved after the sale.

Opening or moving a location

A new or relocated office is the right moment to get the phones — and the network behind them — done properly.

Standardized on Microsoft Teams

Your team already lives in Teams, and you want to know whether it can be your phone system too.

Running multiple sites or remote teams

You need locations and remote staff on one system that's actually managed, not stitched together.

Just starting to explore

You're not sure what you need yet. A no-pressure assessment is a good place to start.

No cost. No pressure.

Common questions

The questions businesses actually ask us.

What is a cloud phone system, and how is it different from VoIP or UCaaS?
A cloud phone system runs your business calling over the internet instead of traditional phone lines, with the platform hosted and maintained by a provider. VoIP is the underlying technology (voice over the internet), and UCaaS describes platforms that combine calling with messaging, meetings, and video. In plain terms: they're closely related names for a modern, internet-based business phone system. Miclyn helps you sort through the terminology and pick what actually fits how your team works.
Can we keep our existing business phone numbers?
In most cases, existing numbers can be ported to the new platform, but it depends on the numbers, the current provider, and correct account information. Porting has to be coordinated carefully — that's exactly the kind of detail Miclyn manages for you, rather than leaving you to figure it out with two providers at once. We confirm what can move before anything is scheduled.
How long does number porting take?
Timelines vary depending on the type of number, the losing provider, and how the account is set up — it isn't something any advisor can promise to the day. We help you plan around it: we prepare the port, configure and test the new system first, and schedule the cutover to reduce disruption, so you're not left guessing.
Will our phones go down during the switch?
Our goal is a smooth cutover with as little disruption as possible. We configure and test the new system before we move your numbers, plan the timing with you, and keep a fallback ready. No honest advisor can promise the phones will never blink during a move — but careful planning and testing is how we keep migrations from turning into bad days.
Which phone platform is right for our business?
It depends on your business — company size, whether you already use Microsoft 365 and Teams, how many locations you have, remote and mobile users, texting, contact-center needs, CRM integrations, hardware, and budget all matter. Miclyn works across platforms including Zoom Phone, RingCentral, Nextiva, 8x8, Microsoft Teams Phone, and Vonage. We compare your requirements first, then recommend the platform that fits — instead of pushing one brand at everyone.
Can Microsoft Teams become our phone system?
Often, yes. If your team already lives in Microsoft 365 and Teams, Teams can be extended into a business phone system. There are several valid ways to connect it to the outside phone network — including Microsoft Calling Plans, Operator Connect, Direct Routing, and Teams Phone Mobile — each with real trade-offs. Miclyn helps determine which approach fits, and it ties into the Microsoft 365 work we already do.
Does our network affect call quality?
Yes — a lot. Call quality on any cloud phone system depends on the network underneath it: bandwidth, latency, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi, and how traffic is prioritized. A phone provider can't fix your network, but Miclyn can — it's what our Networking & Connectivity practice does. We review network readiness as part of the phone-system conversation, not as an afterthought.
Do we need new desk phones, or can we use apps?
Both are usually options. Modern platforms work through desktop and mobile apps as well as desk phones and headsets, so many teams use a mix. We help you decide what makes sense for each role rather than buying hardware you don't need — and we plan the devices as part of the overall design.
What is E911, and is it something we need to think about?
E911 is about making sure a 911 call from your phone system reaches emergency services with the right location information. For many business phone systems there are federal requirements — Kari's Law and the RAY BAUM'S Act — covering direct 911 dialing, notification, and location detail. We're not attorneys and this isn't legal advice, but we help you identify these requirements during planning so they don't get overlooked.
After everything is set up, what happens when we need help?
You have a Miclyn relationship that already knows your setup. When you need to add or remove users, change call routing, add a location, understand a license, review a bill, or escalate a provider issue, you're not starting over with a new support rep every time. Miclyn stays involved and helps manage the provider relationship. We don't control the provider's network or guarantee their resolution times, but you're not left chasing it alone.
